Hi, Diary!
Today my friend Stormy visited me!
It’s still very cold out, so we can’t sit outside much, but Mum let the horses into the garden, and then I saw Stormy outside the window, and then I ran to the door just as he rang the door bell!
He came in and wanted kisses from me so that’s what he got.
He’s great!
I licked his nose a bit too.
It was awesome!
Can’t wait for next time!
Jezzy, not at all excited
(And who didn’t run around like a blue-arsed fly all afternoon, which is a vicious rumor.)

Dear Diary.
I hate chickens.
They are MEAN.
They chase me.
They eat MY FOOD!
And why couldn’t the fox take that EVIL Molly, instead of Olive?
She lies in wait, I swear. I can be a mile away, and she’ll come running to chase me.
I HATE CHICKENS!!
I’m going to live in the woods. It’s safer.
Squeaky, the harassed cat.

Dear Diary,
It started off very cold again today, but this afternoon the sun was shining and it was warm-ish.
The human came to sit outside for a bit, and since it is safe where she is, Molly and I came to sunbathe at her feet.
Beaker came to check out what we were doing, and he’s so darn big, he stole the sun!
I kept moving, and he kept blocking the sun. Sheesh.
But it was nice, and while it may look like we’re dead, we’re just enjoying ourselves.
Hopefully it’ll get warmer soon!
Best,
Tilly

Yo, Diary!
We are having to sleep in the stable overnight atm.
Well, I get bored.
So I tried to eat Oz’s blanket, because it was in a bag on the other side of the fence. I was doing a pretty good job, but then the human came and took it away from me.
She always takes away all the fun stuff, and she scolds me! And besides, Timmy was trying to eat it too, but he let go and went to the field before she noticed. At least I think she didn’t notice, because she didn’t scold Timmy.
I wanted to take it to the field with me and held on real hard, but she made me open my mouth and let go. Now there’s a big heavy thing on it.
Dammit.
It’s cold at the moment. Is it ever going to be warm again?
We do go out during the day, and the bottom field is okay…but there’s not enough grass.
There is grass in the other field.
Why can’t we go there?
The human also says I’m going for training soon.
Going where?
What is training?
Stormy, the confused rug eater.

Hi there, Dirary.
I’ve never done this before, so forgive me if I get it wrong.
Well, my feathers are starting to grow back, slowly.
You see, Arthur was a really, really rough guy, and he would spur me, and peck me, and pin me to the floor with all his weight. He was 3x bigger than me, so I didn’t stand a chance.
Let me tell you about Arthur.
Tilly and I were with 3 other hens, and Arthur. Then the human here lost her cockerel, and the human we were with offered Arthur and 2 hens.
Those two hens turned out to me Tilly and I.
So off we went in a big box. I laid an egg in there, because I had to. There was nowhere else to go.
Anyway, we arrived and it was cold and wet, with white stuff on the ground. We were put in a small pen with Arthur, and I swear he pinned me down no less than six times.
There were three other hens already, and they were circling the pen. One of them was always making googly eyes at Arthur, and I thought hon, you’re welcome to him.
Then the new human let us out, and Arthur — the cheat — went off with the one who was making googly eyes. The other two were picking on Tilly and me, real bad. Arthur stopped the pecking at first, but then he took the other three as his favorites and didn’t care anymore about Tilly and me.
The human was really nice tho, we got lots of treats.
At first it was hell going in the coop at night. Hennifer “Googly Eyes” Lopez would kick me and Tilly out or just peck us real bad.
I actually went to sleep in a cat crate to avoid her, but the human made me go in the coop anyway.
Every day Arthur would pin me a few times. Tilly managed to get away more often, but my back and wings were really suffering. My feathers break really easy.
So after a few weeks things settled down a bit, but Arthur was attacking the human and her guest. She whacked him with a stick once or twice when he made a hole in her leg. He was more careful after that.
Well, one morning we were out feasting on bugs, when a fox came and took Olive. (Why couldn’t he have taken Hennifer? She’s still mean. Olive was nice to us.) Arthur saw it and attacked the fox. He fought hard, and a long time, but…
The fox won.
No more Arthur.
The day after, this new chap arrived. He’s still very young, but he’s nothing like Arthur. He’s nice!
He tells us when there’s nice food somewhere, and he’s not taking a bite until we’re done. Unlike Arthur, who was a greedy pig and who always hoovered up anything edible.
Beaker even brought me Spaghetti when I was pushed aside by Hennifer.
I’m happy now. There is always food, there are bugs, there are nice places to take a dust bath, and we get treats about once or twice a day. Even my eggs have improved, they aren’t thin shelled anymore, but nice and firm.
So there you have it. We’re pretty good now, especially now that Arthur is gone.

Dear Diary,
It was a boring day today for the most part.
But there was also sad news today.
The Queen’s husband died, and having lived in the UK for so long, I couldn’t help but reflect on that.
Philip liked horses, so that’s a good thing. He also campaigned for wildlife, conservation, nature and such. That’s also a good thing, but people don’t seem to be aware of it at all.
Sad that he didn’t quite manage to get to 100, only 8 ½ weeks from today, like he wanted.
Everyone would like to offer their condolences to his family.
Oz, and the rest of the crew.

Dear Diary,
I like it when mum does what she calls a “Lazy Day”.
It’s like a regular day for us, but with all the running around she does, I suppose she needs one of those every now and then.
Today she did “Notalot”, which is awesome, as we get to snuggle a lot.
I loooooove snuggles, but mum says I get very heavy and make her arm go dead.
How? I make sure I hold on to her neck, when I’m not in my jacket. That’s where I spent most of the day, with just the head poking out now and then.
Mum gets to wear my jacket, but it’s mine. It’s blue, and it has a lovely warm, soft sheep inside. And it’s big enough to really roll into a ball, sit on mums lap, with my paws on her shoulder, and I can give kisses without stretching much.
Then she said she’s really tired and was going to read a while. Well, we all came to read in bed. So we each found a spot (mine was snuggled to her side, real tight) and before long we were all “reading”. Sounded more like snoring, but there you go.
It was really nice. I didn’t even beat up Livvy.
We need more days of “Notalot”.
Greets,
Sleepy Pixie.

Cher Diary,
A lot has happened since I’ve last blogged.
The English s’est amélioré, I am almost flowing now.
We were à l’extérieur since Mars, but le Temp was getting very bad and froid.
So we had to comme à l’intérieur, dans l’écurie. At first I didn’t comprende. But when the white stuff came down en nuit… Oui. Je comprende. None of us has winter fur, Oz has the red blanket on.
I went to sleep, and Stormy stood watch over me. That was nice, until he woke me because he wanted to play.
A matin, everything was blanc! But it melted.
Better inside when it’s like that. It means we have to mange hay though. We would prefer grass, and I think it’s mean that we are not allowed.
Au revoir!
Timmy

Dear Diary,
It is very cold today, and it snowed a few times during the grazing time.
I have my rug on, because Mum says I get sick otherwise. Well, I do get a belly ache when I get cold, so I suppose she’s right. Besides, I don’t mind. It’s warm and snuggly. It’s red tho, and I don’t like red things.
Stormy doesn’t have a rug on, neither does Timmy. But they still have a bit of thick fur, so they don’t get as cold as I do.
The car got new shoes today, so Mum was out most of the morning. During a lockdown! Sheesh… rulebreaker. (She says it’s allowed, but I don’t believe that.)
We stayed inside last night, because there was rain / wind, maybe even snow forecast. Well, it was windy, they did get that bit right. And cold.
We’re in again tonight with hay and water, and she made the stable bigger for us. Timmy gets the best wind break, because he’s little and the cover on the sides is higher than he is.
I don’t mind coming in so much now, because I’m never alone in there. We all hang out together, with no divisions. It makes for a cozy area, but it’s big enough for all of us to lie down comfortably. Stormy likes his spot in the back anyway, more room for me and Timmy!
I hope it gets warm soon, so we can stay out and eat grass!!
Greets,
Oz

Dear Diary,
The human was messing around with the silver thing and the thing attached to it today. No idea what it’s for really, but she spent ages on them. She calls the silver thing a “Jeep”. Whatever that is. The good thing was, she let us out into the sunshine, so we made sure we keep an eye on her.
When she was done with the silver thing attachment, she made lots of lovely poo piles for us. We hoiked it over to the poo piles because that’s where the tasties live.
But… she got into the silver thing, and then she STOLE all those lovely poo piles!! I was just getting started on one, when she comes along and yells at me. What’s all that about?
When she’d stolen all the poo — even in the field! — she left the silver thing and went inside, so we all followed and waited outside the door. Because usually she comes back out with the white yummies, and gives them to us.
This time she gave us lots, and Molly tried to steal more than her share straight out of the bowl! She just jumped up, grabbed a beak full, and gobbled it down. The cheek!
The horses had to go into the stable tonight, and our coop has extra bedding too. She says it’ll be very cold tonight, so now we’re all snuggled up.
Nighty night!
